Dad’s New Universe
It’s been a week since Dad entered a new universe. This includes battleships on the street in front of the house that descend, with a religious congregation of Brahmins inside singing, underneath the neighbor’s yard. It’s taken me a week to catch my breath on this one. Stay tuned for more details. Meanwhile, enjoy the video I took today of his latest wise conversation with a total stranger named Darius. This took place in Venice Beach, California … or perhaps it was in a new dimension altogether. Darius is a 24 year old amazing soul who took great interest in Dad. It’s installment number one!
Mom’s Ashes
Today I went and picked up Mom’s ashes.
Noon. USC Medical School. Overcast day. Downtown Los Angeles was in a cloud.
USC campus was quietly buzzing. I took a few photos to show Dad in case he wanted to see. I poked around and looked at where she’d been. Mom’s been there for nearly 2 years ‘teaching’. It was her last gift to the world. So noble.
I got a little weepy. I drove her home.
As I go to sleep tonight, I put her with me in my room. I thought about how I held on to her elegant, square, pounded dark copper urn. Just like a baby. That’s what she used to say at the very end when I was doing things for her that she could no longer do. ”I’m just like a baby again.” Just like a baby.
G’nite, Mom.
Welcome.
Holy Cow. What’s it like to be a Single Daughter? Similar to being a Single Mom!
Clif notes: Moved into new mid-century mod house that could accommodate both my ‘rents. Moved ‘em in January of 2008. Mom was sick. She passed away July 25th. Dad has finally agreed that he lives with me instead of the other way around! heh heh.
Welcome to the antics of a single daughter. Altho most of the antics come from The Lucas.
Today Bernanke was interrogated by Congress so Dad decided he wanted Grilled Bernanke for lunch.
I rest my case. Stay tuned. This is a work in progress. Very new!
